Parents of Armenian Servicemen Killed, Reported Missing Want Army Commanders to be Investigated

Parents of Armenian servicemen killed or reported missing during last year’s war in Artsakh want the Armenia’s National Security Service to investigate the circumstances in which their loved ones died or went missing.

Independent MPs Taguhie Tovmasyan and Sofia Hovsepyan told reporters today in Yerevan that they had been approached by the parents for help in this regard.

“They seriously doubt that any investigation of the criminal cases already filed will take place,” Tovmasyan said.

The parents, according to the MPs, want individual commanders to be investigated for issuing orders endangering the lives of the servicemen.

The parents allege that newly conscripted servicemen were dispatched to the front with little training and in trucks that were easy targets for Azerbaijani drones.

Today, the MPs invited to the National Assembly the parents of fifty servicemen trapped by Azerbaijani forces in Hadrut’s Vank village and the parents of 76 killed and missing servicemen of the Martuni 2 military unit.
