Government Has Paid $13.8 Million to Compensate Artsakh Residents, Says Armenian Deputy PM

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan today, at a parliamentary session focusing on the government’s 2020 performance, claimed that 7.2 billion drams ($13.8M) has already been allocated to the people of Artsakh as compensation for the losses incurred during last year’s war.

Grigoryan said that 68,000 drams was provided to every citizen registered in Artsakh, including children, as well as to unregistered but de facto residents, in the amount of 68 thousand drams each.

Grigoryan said 68,000 drams will be provided to people registered or actually residing in Artsakh in March, April, May and June 2021. According to estimates, about 110,000 people will receive assistance, for a total of about 30 billion drams.

Artsakh citizens registered in communities under the control of Azerbaijan were provided with a one-time financial assistance in the amount of 300 thousand drams. According to Grigoryan, more than 28,000 citizens have received such assistance so far, and a total of more than 8.4 billion drams has been paid.

The families of the missing servicemen have been provided with 300 thousand AMD monthly social assistance for a maximum period of 6 months. To date, more than 870 families have received support.

Soldiers who were injured or mutilated because of hostilities were provided with 300,000 drams a month in social assistance for a maximum of six months. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, more than 50 servicemen have received support so far.

A total of 44 million drams was paid to 71 people to compensate the damage caused to real estate owners in the territory of the Republic of Armenia during the hostilities.
