Pashinyan Says Police Will Ensure Free and Fair Parliamentary Elections
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan today visited the headquarters of the country’s Police today to mark Police Workers Day.
Pashinyan, in a speech to department officials and personnel, said that the police in Armenia have been working overtime for the past year because of the coronavirus and last year’s war in Karabakh.
He said that many officers and police troops died or were seriously wounded during the war.
“After the 44-day war, domestic political passions flared up. But we have resolved the internal political situation without violence,” Pashinyan said, referring to street protests by those who sought to force the prime minister to resign after Armenia’s military defeat in last year’s war.
Pashinyan expressed confidence that the Police would ensure free and fair parliamentary elections scheduled for June.
P.S. Police Day was first celebrated in 2002 and was introduced a year earlier by the National Assembly of Armenia.
