Armenian Parliament Fails to Elect Prime Minister

Armenia’s National Assembly today failed to elect a new prime minister, the first step in the legal process to dissolve the current legislature and hold snap parliamentary elections in June.

If the parliament fails to elect a prime minister a second time, in seven days, the legislature is dissolved by force of law.

Pashinyan resigned as prime minister on April 25 and now serves as acting prime minister.
