World Bank $3.7 Million Grant to Assist Families in Armenia Affected by War
The World Bank will issue a $3.72 million grant to Armenia to assist families affected by last year’s war in Karabakh.
The grant, designed to “improve the resilience of conflict-affected people and to reduce the financial burdens of hosting families”, is part of the World Bank’s Support to Conflict Affected Families Project.
The goals of the program are:
1- Assist some 11,530 displaced persons by paying them a monthly cash benefit of the minimum wage (AMD 68,000) per adult / child in Armenia for up to 4 months.
2 - Provide financial assistance/income support to 3,975 families in Armenia who hosted displaced persons to meet basic needs.
3- Temporarily subsidize the employment program for 936 IDPs who wish to gain work experience in Armenia, promote their participation in labor market and economic involvement.
4 - Assist 115 IDPs through a public works program (for paid work).
