Pashinyan Says Azerbaijan Seeks Military Confrontation

Describing today’s capture of a reported six Armenian soldiers by Azerbaijani forces in Armenia’s Gegharkunik province as “unacceptable”, Acting Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan said that Azerbaijan wants to provoke a military confrontation along the border.

"The processes taking place are absolutely unacceptable. Such incidents occur because some people want us to come to terms with the presence of Azerbaijani forces in our territory, which cannot happen,” Pashinyan remarked at today’s government cabinet session.

He did not identify who he meant by “some people”.

"This is a direct threat to Armenia's sovereignty, a gross violation of international law. Armenia must use all levers, including international ones, to rectify the situation," he said.
