ANC Deputy Chairman Calls Pashinyan a "Plague for the Country"

Armenian National Congress (HAK) Chairman Aram Manukyan today said that if the current situation in the country continues no one will be left in Armenia five years hence.

He described Acting PM Nikol Pashinyan “a plague for the country”.

"Documents are on the table, documents are expected, in which case, especially given Nikol's reelection, we will lose Armenia piece by piece," Manukyan said.

Turning to the plight of Armenian POWs and others held by Azerbaijan, Manukyan said the issue would have been resolved long ago if Armenia has a strong state supported by international structures.

"We lost in Karabakh; Armenia is losing. Armenia is losing its statehood. This is the danger," he said.

Manukyan also claimed that Pashinyan did not heed numerous Russian calls to stop last year’s Karabakh war while keeping the regions of Hadrut and Shushi.

The "Plague" began as the Soviet Union was disintegrating. The self-proclaimed leaders of Armenia decided it was easier to plunder Armenia than to install the best and brightest to serve a grand national strategy. After all, the KGB and cowboy oligarchs knew that incompetence has its advantages and certainly didn't want any diasporan competition. The policy serves the interests of those profiting most by the selective enforcement of the law yet tolerated by most of the population. When the conspicuous accumulation of wealth overshadows national security concerns, we all lose. It should not be surprising how easily foreign money, with its political influence and counter-intelligence activities, has flourished in Armenia. A culture created as late as 1991, starting with privatization voucher corruption, cheating in school, tax evasion, friends in high places, stealing land, business-interests oligarchs in law-making positions in Parliament, have permeated all levels of the government, military, and media. The system enjoys childish mafia-sounding names for Members of Parliament. Armenians expect others to take us seriously when we don't take ourselves seriously. Wars have been lost for less! Armenia had a mandate to be smarter than those whose goal is to reduce Armenia to an Ottoman backwater. We failed, and all those in government since 1991 are fully culpable. Yerevan, Armenia
