Baku Trial: Fourteen Armenian Captives Face Life Imprisonment
The Azerbaijani Trend media outlet reports that the fourteen Armenian captives in Baku, charged with “provocative-terrorist acts”, face 14-20 years and even life imprisonment if found guilty by an Azerbaijani court.
According to the indictment, the Armenian captives from Shirak illegally acquired weapons and ammunition, including explosive devices, and illegally crossed into Azerbaijan on November 26-27, 2020, occupying a military position near Hadrut.
Trend reports that the fourteen “partially accepted” the charges against them but failed to specify which ones.
The indictment says they carried out provocative-terrorist acts in the area before being captured on December 13, 2020.
Azerbaijani prosecutors allege all this took place after the November 9, 2020 ceasefire.
