Armenian Security Council Head Disagrees with CSTO's Description of Border Situation
Security Council of Armenia Secretary Armen Grigoryan, during a telephone conversation today with CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, raised concerns about remarks made by Zas on July 3 describing tensions along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in connection with the establishment of a new border as a "border incident" and not aggression.
The Security Council, in a statement, reported that Grigoryan told Zas that the current situation cannot be described as an “incident” given that Azerbaijani troops have remained on Armenian territory for quite some time.
The Security Council says Azerbaijan’s actions constitute an obvious attempt to occupy a part of Armenia’s sovereign territory.
Grigoryan proposed that the CSTO Secretariat dispatch a fact-finding mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijan border.
