Gunfire broke out along the Yeraskh section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border earlier today, resulting in the death of one Armenian soldier and an unspecified number of Azerbaijani troop deaths.

According to the Armenian Defense Ministry, Azerbaijani troops attempted to fortify their lines in a forward position and Armenian troops took countermeasures.

Azerbaijani troops responded by opening fire on the Armenian soldiers.

The ministry, in a statement, condemned the incident, describing it as another provocation.

“The entire responsibility for further aggravation of the situation lies with the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan,” the statement reads.
