Armenian Government Announces $18.4 Million Roadway Repair Project

Acting Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan today announced a 8.9 billion AMD ($18.4M) project to completely repair some 51 kilometers of roadways in the country, the bulk of which are interstate highways.

Pashinyan, at a government cabinet session, said his Civil Contract party must make good on its election campaign promises.

He said the Yerevan-Yeraskh-Goris-Meghri highway will be repaired.

"Under the program of the Civil Contract party, we are obliged to build 2,600 km of roads, 500 kindergartens, 300 schools, and to start or finish the construction of 15 reservoirs in the next 5 years. Our analysis shows that the construction potential of Armenia today does not allow for the full implementation of this program," Pashinyan said, suggesting that diasporan businessmen start discussions with the government on this issue.
