Baku Court Sentences Two Armenians to 15 Years
Baku’s Serious Crimes Court today sentenced Gevorg Sujyan and Davit Davityan to fifteen years, this according to the Azerbaijani Trend news outlet.
The Azerbaijani State Prosecutor accused the two Armenians of espionage and illegally crossing into Azerbaijan.
Sujyan, founding president of the New Armenia, Homeland-Diaspora benevolent NGO, and his friend Davit Davityan, were taken prisoner along the Berdzor-Shushi road in November 2020, after fighting stopped in Karabakh.
Trend has quoted Sujyan as saying that he decided to travel to Karabakh on November 10, 2020, the day the ceasefire went into effect, to deliver humanitarian assistance.
He has also rejected alleged links to Armenian intelligence services.
