ARF Bureau Urges Armenians to Support Communities in Lebanon and Syria

Arguing that the Armenian communities in Lebanon and Syria face an existential crisis, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s “Bureau” has called on all Armenians to support these compatriots “by all possible means”.

The Bureau, in a statement today, cites the August 4, 2020 explosion that destroyed the port of Beirut and the ensuing political and economic crisis in Lebanon, as real threats to the wellbeing and normal life of Armenians in that country.

“Our other important colony in the Middle East, Syria, was not spared either. The civil war, with the participation of foreign forces, the epidemic and the bad social and economic conditions put our Syrian-Armenian brothers and sisters in an unspeakable predicament, taking the lives of hundreds of innocent people and condemning many of them to social insecurity,” the ARF statement reads.

Despite the outpouring of assistance shown of late, these communities continue to face enormous challenges both in terms of Armenian identity preservation and in human costs.

“We now call on our people around the world to continue to stand by the Lebanese-Armenians and the Syrian-Armenians and to support the sisters and brothers of our two communities by all possible means,” the ARF statement reads.
