Armenian Health Ministry Says Data on Unidentified Remains of Soldiers Cannot be Disclosed

The Armenian Ministry of Health, for the second time, has refused to reveal the number unidentified bodies of servicemen killed in last year’s Karabakh war 2020 and in which unit of the Forensic Medical Scientific-Practical Center the remains are being held.

Hetq requested that information from the ministry via inquiries sent on July 26 and August 4 of this year.

The ministry, on both occasions, responded that such information is of a secretive nature since the data is part of a preliminary investigation of criminal cases initiated by the country’s Investigative Committee.

The cases in question deal with the circumstances of how and why the soldiers cannot be identified properly.

The Ministry of Health notes that the Forensic Scientific-Practical Center CJSC and the Investigative Committee have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the International Commission on Missing Persons, which has its office in the Netherlands.
