Armenia Tightens Health Monitoring of Food Stores: Businesses Issued Warnings

Armenia’s Food Safety Inspectorate (FSI) has increased its monitoring of retail food outlets and producers given the recent uptick in coronavirus cases in the country.

The FSI reports that staffers today conducted spot checks of large supermarkets in Yerevan’s Kentron and Davtashen districts, issuing warnings to some violating the prescribed health measures.

The FSI says that Ministry of Health regulations to prevent the spread of the virus remain unchanged and that employees and customers should wear a mask, maintain social distancing, that hand sanitizers should be available in stores, that surfaces should be regularly disinfected, and disinfection and thermometer registers should be available.

Businesses violating these regulations can be fined from 100,000 – 300,000 drams.
