
Ministry Wants to Recognize Mt. Karmir Katar as Natural Monument
The Armenian Ministry of Environment wants to include Mount Karmir Katar (Tar), in the Gegham mountain range, in the list of natural monuments.
The range, of volcanic origin, is 70 km long and 48 km wide and stretches between Lake Sevan and the Ararat Plain.
Located in the central part of the Gegham mountain range, southwest of Azhdahak volcano, the mountain reaches 3,530 meters in height with a 300-meter diameter crater lake at the top.
The mountain has a great tourist significance and is considered a favorite place of mountaineers and eco-tourists.
