Artsakh: Man Throws Explosive Device at Shushi Checkpoint

A man threw an explosive device at an Azerbaijani military checkpoint near Shushi earlier today, this according to the Artsakh National Security Service (NSS).

The Stepanakert-Shushi-Berdzor road was temporarily closed to allow Artsakh police and Russian peacekeepers to investigate.

The NSS reports that no one was wounded in the incident. Baku claims that three of its soldiers were wounded.

Preliminary reports say the man threw the device in response to “provocative actions” by Azerbaijani soldiers.

Artsakh Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan issued a statement that Russian peacekeepers have detained the man in question and that they will hand him over to Artsakh law enforcement.

Times.am posted the following video on the incident. Unconfirmed social media posts say the man is the brother of one the men killed on November 8 when Azerbaijani soldiers opened fire on a group of workers repairing water pipes near Shushi.
