The Armenian Defense Ministry reports that Azerbaijani troops attacked Armenian military positions along the eastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border today at noon local time.

The ministry, in a statement, says Armenian troops retaliated and forced the Azerbaijani troops to retreat.

The ministry says an unspecified number of Azerbaijani soldiers were killed.

Fighting continues in the area.

Update: The Armenian Defense Ministry reports that one Armenian serviceman was killed and several wounded in the clash and that the fighting ceased as of 2:30pm local time.
