Covid-19: Armenia Imposes New Regulations for Public Places
Residents of Armenia will have to show proof of vaccination or a negative PCR coronavirus test before entering public places.
Armenian Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan announced the regulation at today’s government cabinet session.
Avanesyan said the new regulation will not enter into force not on January 10, the day of its publication, but "within the next 15 days."
The minister said businesses will have two weeks to prepare for the new regulation.
Avanesyan said 129 new coronavirus cases were registered yesterday and that three 3 people died.
She said that 722,409 people have received two doses of the coronavirus vaccine, and the first dose - 946,984.
PM Nikol Pashinyan said that while the coronavirus situation in the country has stabilized, more people need to be vaccinated.
"If we do not continue vaccinating properly, the crisis will inevitably return. The Omicron strain has not been registered in Armenia, but it is inevitable. It’s hard to imagine that the strain will not enter Armenia," Pashinyan said.
