Former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, in a statement marking the thirtieth anniversary of the Armenian Armed Forces, said the 2020 defeat of those forces was due to “cowardly and unpatriotic” leaders.

“I believe in the revival of the Armenian state, in the wisdom of the Armenian people, in the unstoppable march of victory. I believe because I and many of my comrades-in-arms, pay heed to the message of Sardarapat, drew strength from the heroic deeds of our brave ancestors, and liberated Shushi and other areas of Artsakh,” Sargyan wrote

Sargysan today visited the Sardarapat Memorial outside Yerevan that marks the May 1918 battle during which Armenian forces repulsed invading Turkish troops.
