Armenia's Ruling Party Discusses Nomination of High-Tech Industry Minister as President
Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party today discussed whether to nominate Ministry of High-Tech Industry Vahagn Khachaturyan as its candidate for president.
Khachaturyan, a Sisian native who served as Yerevan mayor (1992-1996) and a Presidential Adviser (1996-1998), was appointed Minister of High-Tech Industry in August 2021.
Armen Sarkissian resigned as Armenian president on January 23. He had until January 30 to withdraw his resignation.
The Armenian National Assembly must now elect a new president not earlier than 25 and not later than 35 days as of today.
