Pashinyan to Visit Turkey in March, Says Turkish VP
Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay , during an interview yesterday with Haber TV, hinted that Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan will travel to Turkey in March to attend the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
Although the recent liberation of Karabakh and the process, which we support to the end, are perceived as a war, in reality it is the key to peace. Special representatives have been appointed and mutual positive signals have been made. We want that process to accelerate. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will come to the Antalya Diplomatic Forum," the Oktay said.
Despite Oktay’s statement, official Yerevan has not said whether it will attend the forum.
Armenia Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and National Assembly Vice Speaker Ruben Rubinyan, Armenia’s special representative for normalization talks with Turkey, have been invited to the forum
Pashinyan, on January 24, noted that Armenia may accept the invitation to attend the forum to ensure the positive pace of normalization talks with Ankara.
Update: Following Turkish Vice President Oktay’s remarks on Turkish TV yesterday, an Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the government is not deliberating whether Pashinyan will travel to Turkey.
