Yerevan’s Council of Elders (Municipal Council) today elected three deputy mayors – Gevorg Simonyan, Suren Grigoryan and Stepan Machyan.

Simonyan, who previously held the position of Advisor to the Minister of Health, Director of the National Burn Center, followed by the Deputy Minister of Health, will manage the healthcare and sports sectors.

Grigoryan previously held the position of Deputy Minister of Justice, and Machyan, served as Acting General Director of the Department of Roadways SNCO.  

Grigoryan will manage the law, trade, advertising sectors and Machyan, urban development.

The pro-government My Step faction holds a majority (51) seats in the council, with the opposition Prosperous Armenia and Luys factions holding five and three respectively.
