Turkish Foreign Minister Says Azerbaijan Supports Armenia-Turkish Normalization Process
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in an interview today with TRT Haber, said that Azerbaijan supports the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.
Çavuşoğlu said that Ankara is in constant consultation with Baku on the matter.
"Now, there must be peace in the region, cooperation must be established. We must work for the development of the region by implementing important projects. For this, all countries must understand each other. They must participate in the process. No one should be left out, including Armenia," Çavuşoğlu said.
The Turkish Foreign Minister said Armenia should learn lessons from the 2020 Artsakh war.
"After the end of the second Karabakh war, we conveyed positive signals. After his victory in the elections, Nikol Pashinyan made important statements. Our president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, answered in the affirmative. Then we appointed special representatives for the normalization of relations, who met in Moscow, and will meet soon in Vienna. Azerbaijan wants peace with Armenia," Çavuşoğlu said.
The Turkish Foreign Minister noted that he will soon visit Azerbaijan at the invitation of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
The next meeting of the special representatives of Armenia and Turkey will take place in Vienna. According to Çavuşoğlu, Armenia suggested the venue.
The first meeting of the special representatives took place on January 14 in Moscow.
