Pashinyan, Macron Meet in Paris

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and French President Emmanuel Macron met today at the Élysée Palace and discussed the holding of the "Ambitions: Armenia-France" conference in Paris.

The two, according to a statement released by Pashinyan’s office, said the conference will give a new impetus to the development and expansion of bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, infrastructure, tourism, health, education, science and culture.

Pashinyan noted that the Armenian government is interested in expanding French businesses in the Armenian market and Macron stressed France's readiness and interest in deepening ties with Armenia in the economic and humanitarian spheres.

They also discussed the situation around Nagorno Karabakh, and Pashinyan said Azerbaijan’s attempts to escalate the situation, by provocative actions, is unacceptable.

Pashinyan told Macron about the March 7 Azerbaijani gunfire that killed one Armenian border soldier and wounded another.

They also stressed the importance of reaching a comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs’ format and the implementation of the trilateral statements signed after the 44-day war.

Nikol Pashinyan and Emmanuel Macron also referred to developments taking place in the international arena.
