Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan and newly appointed Syrian Ambassador to Armenia Nora Arisian met today in Yerevan and discussed inter-parliamentary cooperation against the backdrop of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Syria.

Simonyan, according to a statement released by his office, that that he is glad to see an Armenian diplomat representing Syria, noting her appointment can be regarded as symbolic.

Simonyan said he is confident that Syria will rebuild after years of political and military conflict and thanked Arisian for her initiative to include the Armenian Genocide in Syrian history textbooks.

 Alen Simonyan noted that Armenia continues its efforts to establish lasting stability in the region.
