Russia, Azerbaijan Sign Intelligence Deal to Protect Territorial Integrity
TASS reports that Russia and Azerbaijan signed a foreign intelligence cooperation agreement yesterday designed to “protect the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two states.”
Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Head Sergey Naryshkin, according to TASS, said the deal will also facilitate the fight against international terrorism and radical extremism and the protection of the interests of foreign agencies and citizens of Russia and Azerbaijan in third countries.
Naryshkin said the two foreign intelligence services have a “good history of cooperation”.
Naryshkin was in Baku after visiting Yerevan last Monday. He met with Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyn on July 18, three days after CIA Director William Burns made a surprise visit to Armenia.
