Bomb Threat Shuts Down Yerevan Subway

Yerevan’s subway was shut down this evening following a bomb threat phoned in to the subway’s office.

Yerevan Metropolitan Spokesperson Tatev Khachatryan told reporters that the office received a call at 5:10 p.m.

The caller said that an explosive device had been placed at one of the subway stations.

Passengers were then evacuated from all trains and stations.

Armenia’s Crisis Management Center reports that it received a telephone call that explosive devices had been placed at all subway stations, important government buildings in the Armenian capital and the Yerevan Zoo.

Update: The subway resumed service after a search by emergency workers found no explosive device.
