Çavuşoğlu Says Armenia Must Decide Whether It Wants Peace
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, speaking on the Turkish Haber Global TV channel, today accused the Armenian government of “insincerity” in the process to normalize relations between Yerevan and Ankara.
“In Yerevan, they have to decide whether they want peace or not,” Çavuşoğlu said.
He said that following Azerbaijan's victory in the 2020 Artsakh war, Turkey advocated long-term peace in the South Caucasus, and steps in this direction continue.
“We are talking about air links with Armenia and so on. Some efforts have also been made in the commercial sector," Cavusoglu said.
Çavuşoğlu again stressed that any normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations cannot be separated from the process to resolve Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, as they are parallel processes and depend on each other.
He said that Yerevan has yet to respond to Baku’s proposals to normalize relations.
Çavuşoğlu also noted that the so-called Zangezur Corridor, linking Azerbaijan and Nakhijevan, remains on the agenda.
