Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has welcomed U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Armenia, adding that “deeds, not words” are needed to facilitate a settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Peskov, according to TASS, said while Russia is ready to work with others to reach a lasting settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he was doubtful that “high profile and populist” actions like Pelosi’s visit to Armenia could stabilize the situation along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

“Everything that is not words, but in deeds - and not loudly, not populist, but, quietly and in a businesslike way - can contribute to the normalization of relations, can contribute to the stabilization of the situation on the border. All this can be welcomed. Can such high-profile actions and statements contribute to this normalization? Let's see. Time will tell," TASS quotes Peskov.

Pelosi, who arrived in Armenia on Saturday and leaves today, accused Azerbaijan of launching military attacks on Armenia.

On Sunday, she met with Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan.
