Armenian, Azerbaijan Foreign Ministers Review Results of October 2 Geneva Meeting

On October 4, at the initiative of the U.S., the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, by telephone, summed up their meeting in Geneva on October 2.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan reiterated Armenia's demand that Azerbaijani troops withdraw from its sovereign territory, that Baku immediately repatriates all Armenian prisoners of war illegally held in Azerbaijan and observes the ceasefire regime.

Mirzoyan, according to his office, emphazised the need to resolve all issues peacefully.

In the context of preventing new aggressions, the importance of introducing international mechanisms for monitoring and controlling the border situation was emphasized.

During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the development of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty and the creation of a discussion mechanism between Stepanakert and Baku.

The sides agreed to continue discussions aimed at establishing stability and security in the South Caucasus.
