Ali Akbar Velayati, Adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader on International Issues, told RIA Novosti that Iran is ready to mediate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Russian news outlet cites Velayti as saying that Transcaucasia is of particular importance to Tehran.

“In this regard, in relation to our neighbors (Armenia and Azerbaijan), we show more sensitivity and attention," Velayati noted.
