The Missing $10,000 - SIS Launches Criminal Case Based on Hetq Story but Still no Arrests

After Hetq broke the story about $10,000 that went missing while in the possession of the Arabkir Police Station’s Department of Investigations, RA Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan instructed Armen Hakobyan, who heads the Internal Security Department to launch an investigation.

The RA Special Investigations Service (SIS) looked into the Hetq allegations and then launched a criminal case regarding the theft of the money that had been confiscated from some Italian citizens who had been involved in a fraud scheme in Armenia.

Hetq had written to SIS Chief Andranik Mirzoyan, asking him if anyone had been charged with the disappearance of the money or had anyone been so questioned.

The case is being handled by SIS investigator Tigran Tamamyan who informed Hetq that no one had been charged with the crime. He refused to say if anyone had even been interrogated by law enforcement regarding the case.

“I can’t answer that due to the secrecy factor involved in the pre-examination,” argued Tamamyan.

The SIS even issued a statement regarding the case where a reference to the original Hetq article is made.

It goes on to confirm the disappearance of the money as a result of the Police Department’s internal investigation and names the three Arabkir investigators who headed the original fraud case involving the Italians.

The statement concludes by merely saying that the SIS investigation is proceeding.
