While Republican Party parliamentary faction head Galoust Sahakyan has high hopes for the new legislature, he told Hetq that fist fights and cursing in the chamber can’t be ruled out during heated debates.

“It would have to be a very contentious debate for things to get so out of hand. Nevertheless, during all my years in the parliament, such cases have been few and far between,” Sahakyan said.

The veteran legislature said that in this respect the Armenian legislature is not much different from legislatures around the world where MPs, in the heat of the moment, let their emotions get the better of them.
