Kremlin Ready to Host Next Pashinyan-Aliyev Meeting
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov today said Russia is ready to host a new meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Pashinyan and Aliyev were scheduled to due to meet in Brussels today, but the Azerbaijani leader pulled out, objecting to the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron.
During a Q&A session in the Armenian National Assembly today, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said there is still no agreement regarding any upcoming meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev but added that such a meeting is possible.
Mirzoyan said Armenia is ready for any new meeting, adding that peace treaty talks are ongoing but the differences between Yerevan and Baku remain substantial on many points.
"I am not sure that it will be possible to have a final version of the deal by the end of the year, although we announced it earlier. That was a statement of our intent. We are working to achieve peace and a comprehensive settlement as soon as possible," said Mirzoyan.
