Armenian Parliament Calls on U.N. to Dispatch Observers to Karabakh

The Armenian National Assembly, by a vote of 57-0, today adopted a statement calling on the international community to condemn Azerbaijan’s blocking of the Lachin Corridor and the cutting off the natural gas supply.

Opposition MPs boycotted the vote, urging their supporters to attend a hastily convened rally in Yerevan.

The statement urges the U.N. Security Council and the OSCE Minsk Group to dispatch a fact-finding mission to Nagorno Karabakh to monitor the humanitarian situation.

The statement also calls on Russia, one of the signatories of the November 2020 Karabakh war ceasefire, to take steps to ensure its full implementation in the area now monitored by Russian peacekeepers.
