CSTO Not Responsible for Lachin Corridor, Says Alliance Head

CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, commenting on the week-long closure of the Lachin Corridor linking Armenia and Artsakh, said that the issue does not fall within the purview of the Russian-backed military alliance.

Zas, according to the Russian RIA Novosti news site, said Armenia, a CSTO member, has not filed any requests with the alliance on the Lachin matter.

Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh have been negotiating with the so-called Azerbaijan eco-activists, who have blocked the road for the past week, to reopen the roadway. To date, their efforts have been unsuccessful.

Armenia Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan today declared that Russia is responsible for the Lachin Corridor based on the November 9, 2020 tripartite statement that ended the 2020 Artsakh war.
