Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will take part in an informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries in St. Petersburg on December 26, this according to a TASS news agency reporter in Armenia citing sources from the Armenian government’s press service.

When asked if Pashinyan will meet separately with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the government press service replied not such meeting is planned.

Every year in December, the leaders of the CIS countries have an informal meeting, during which cooperation between the CIS countries during the year is discussed and the tasks to be done for the coming year are outlined.

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), a regional intergovernmental organization formed following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, is comprised of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
