Kremlin Pushes Back Against Pashinyan's Criticism of Russian Peacekeepers in Karabakh

The Kremlin has responded to comments made by Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan criticizing Russian peacekeepers for not fulfilling their role to keep the Lachin Corridor open.

Pashinyan, at a cabinet session today, said according to the November 9, 2020 tripartite statement that ended the 2020 Artsakh war, Russian peacekeepers were entrusted with maintain the Lachin Corridor and that Azerbaijan is obligated to guarantee the safety of citizens and vehicles along the roadway.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in Moscow that Russian peacekeepers act in strict accordance with all documents and “are doing everything possible to ensure order and tranquility in the territories in which they work.”

Peskov said Moscow will continue to discuss the matter with its Armenian colleagues and allies.
