Lavrov Regrets Absence of Armenian Foreign Minister at Moscow Meeting
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to take advantage of all opportunities to dialog and reach a peace agreement.
Lavrov, according to the TASS news agency, made the remarks prior to his meeting today with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Moscow.
Armenia pulled out of the meeting, arguing the reopening the Lachin Corridor was its top priority. Yerevan had called for today’s meeting to be postponed.
Lavrov expressed regret over Armenia’s decision, saying such meetings are vital to strengthen trust between Yerevan and Baku and resolve all outstanding issues.
Rather than travel to Moscow, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan today met with an Artsakh government delegation in Yerevan to discuss the ongoing closure of the Lachin Corridor and its humanitarian consequences.
