In 2017, Yerevan Mayoral Candidate Pashinyan Wanted to Turn General’s Land into a Park
Following our recent article detailing how an Armenian general bought and sold a Yerevan plot of land belonging to the Ministry of Defense for a huge profit, a reader sent us the following video, shot in May 2017, showing then Yerevan mayoral candidate Nikol Pashinyan claiming that if elected he would turn the area into a park.
"This site, which is just a green area, has the potential to be a park. I don't even know whether it matters if it’s a private or a public area,” says Pashinyan, describing the site as a garbage dump.
Pashinyan topped the list of the Yelk (Way Out) alliance in the May 2017 Yerevan City Council election. The alliance came in second, garnering 21% of the vote.
