Armenian Justice Ministry Wants to Fine Officials for Flag Violations
Armenia’s Justice Ministry wants to fine government officials found guilty of violating rules for handling and displaying the Armenian flag.
The Armenian parliament, in March 2022, unanimously adopted a bill making it mandatory to fly the Armenian flag at all national, regional and local government offices, public schools and universities, state agencies, sports and cultural organizations and other state agencies.
That bill specified fines of 30,000-50,000 drams for those abusing the flag but didn’t cover violations in government offices or on government vehicles.
The new bill, if approved by the parliament, would fine officials 70,000-100,000 drams for flag violations.
