Sharmazanov Responds to Davutoglu: Turks/Azerbaijanis Must Withdraw From Parts of Artsakh Still Occupied by Baku
In response to yesterday’s statement by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu that “Turkey would be able to establish relations with Armenia once it withdraws from the occupied territories”, Deputy Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Edward Sharmazanov said that, “Yes, there are occupied territories and it is the Turks and Azeris that must leave them.”
Sharmazanov was referring to the regions of Shahoumyan, Getashen and Martounashen of the Artsakh Republic under Azerbaijani military control
The deputy speaker said he found it unacceptable for Turkey to talk with ultimatums and that Ankara would do well to remember its occupation of the northern part of Cyprus.
“I would like to once again verify our determination in reaching our pan-national objectives,” Safaryan concluded in his official statement.
