Earthquake Kills Two Armenians in Aleppo
Today’s earthquake in southeastern Turkey killed two Armenians in the Syrian town of Aleppo according to the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
"We are working to obtain information about the presence of Republic of Armenia citizens among the victims in Turkey. As soon as we receive new data, we will provide additional information," said ministry spokesman Vahan Hunanyan.
More than 1,500 people have been confirmed killed and thousands more injured in the powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria early on Monday.
The quake, one of the strongest to hit the region in more than 100 years, struck 23 kilometers (14.2 miles) east of Nurdagi, in Turkey's Gaziantep province, at a depth of 24.1 kilometers, the US Geological Survey said.
