Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, now in Germany on a working visit, today met with the heads of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and thanked Germany for supporting the decision to deploy a long-term European Union monitoring mission in Armenia.

Simonyan, according to his office, told the foundation heads, invited German MPs and public figures that Armenia is working to establish peace in the South Caucasus despite Baku’s continued blockade of the Lachin Corridor.

Simonyan said the right of Karabakh Armenians to maintain their national identity was constantly violated has been  constantly violated by Soviet and independent Azerbaijan.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (German: Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit) (FNF), is a German foundation for liberal politics, related to the Free Democratic Party.
