Armenian Government Greenlights Women Military Volunteers

The Armenian government has approved a draft law allowing women to volunteer for military service for a six-month period.

Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, at a cabinet session today, said the women will be assigned to training units and will receive an AMD 1 million (US$2,581) award after completely the six-month service. Those completing training would be eligible to become contract soldiers.

Military service in Armenia is mandatory for male citizens aged 18 to 27 and lasts two years. Conscripts are drafted twice a year pursuant to the government's decision.

In January, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia will have a professional army and claimed his government is implementing systematic reforms designed to reevaluate the performance of the army and will increase funding to improve the social and living conditions of servicemen.

Little is known about these alleged reforms.

ARMENIA IS 32 YEARS TOO LATE. THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF ARMENIA--MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN--SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! AND TRAINED HOW TO USE THEM FROM THE FIRST DAY OF INDEPENDENCE. WHY DOESN'T ARMENIA UNDERSTAND THAT IT MUST BE ARMED TO THE TEETH? ARMENIA NEEDS TO HAVE A MASSIVE MILITARY BUDGET WITH THE MOST ADVANCED WEAPONS. HOW CAN IT DO THAT THOUGH WITH CORRUPT SCUM BAG LEADERS WHO STEAL THE MONEY AND DESTROY THE COUNTRY? THROW ALL OF THEM IN JAIL UNTIL THEY ROT. ONCE ARMENIA BECOMES A TRUE CHRISTIAN NATION--FEAR OF GOD, NO STEALING, NO CORRUPTION, WORKING TOGETHER--IS WHEN ARMENIA WILL BECOME STRONG AND RICH. STOP THE DAMN CORRUPTION!!!
