Bento: "We have regained the upper hand"
Despite yesterday’s heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Portugal, Danish football coach Morten Olsen said he was proud of the football displayed by his team in their 1-0 win over Holland and even prouder of their second half play in yesterday’s game.
“I am hopeful we won’t face a similar disappointment. We were worthy of a point. If we had a little more luck we could have played to a draw,” said Olsen, adding that’s it’s great to have possession of the ball but, in the end, what matters are goals.
“Our goals were interesting but the Portuguese scored three to our two. The fact that we were tires played a role,” remarked Olsen.
Portugal’s coach Paulo Bento said yesterday’s match resembled the game with Germany, the only difference being that his team was able to put the ball in the net.
Bento added that his team should have won by a two goal difference.
“We have played two great games with fantastic teams. There have been many obstacles on our path but we are going forwards on the right track. After the first game we wound up in an unenviable position but now we have regained the upper hand. We must correctly prepare for the match with Holland,” Bento concluded.
