Armenian Opposition MPs Blast Pashinyan for Capitulating on Artsakh

Armenian opposition MP Gegham Manukyan (ARF) believes any peace deal that Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan signs with Baku will not guarantee peace, but wull open the door for further Armenian capitulations.

Manukyan warned that the May 14 meeting in Brussels between Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and European Council President Charles Michel is fraught with dangerous consequences for Armenia and Artsakh.

"Considering the position of the Armenian authorities and Nikol Pashinyan in general, and the dangerous and anti-Armenian statements, we should be very seriously worried about the upcoming meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev, the rest will be clear with the results of the meeting," Manukyan told Hetq.

He accused the Pashinyan administration of backpedaling on the rights of the Armenians of Artsakh and merely recognizing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Manukyan said that Pashinyan’s call for an international fact-finding mission is ill-conceived given the presence of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh.

Manukyan notes that Russian peacekeeping troops are stationed in Artsakh, and everyone imagines the consequences of inviting an international fact-finding group to Artsakh with the presence of Russian peacekeepers in a different format.

Opposition With Honor faction MP Hayk Mamijanyan notes that the May 14 meeting was hastily arranged and that Pashinyan is guilty of separating the issue of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations from the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

He said the format of direct talks between Stepanakert and Baku will not lead anywhere good.

Referring to the signing of the peace treaty and establishment of long-term peace, Mamijanyan sais: "At this moment, when the world order, as such, is collapsing, and a new one is not even formed in the embryonic stage, and its scope is not even visible, only a person who is completely ignorant and ignorant of political and geopolitical processes can speak about any long-term commitment in any part of the world.”

Mamijanyan also accused Pashinyan of washing his hands of the Karabakh conflict for the sake of an illusional peace with Azerbaijan.
