Armenia, Azerbaijan Closer to Peace Treaty, Says Lavrov
Following today’s talks in Moscow between the foreign ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijani and Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Yerevan and Baku managed to close outstanding differences regarding a peace treaty.
"According to the peace treaty and a number of articles that were discussed today, it was possible to bring the understanding of both sides closer to the common vision. A bilateral meeting between the ministers of foreign affairs of Armenia and Azerbaijan has now begun, after which they will inform us about what was achieved," Lavrov said according to TASS.
Lavrov noted that Moscow will "further promote the movement forward in order to fully fulfill all the provisions of all three-party statements, which form the foundation of efforts to normalize Armenian-Azerbaijani relations".
According to Lavrov, Mirzoyan and Bayramov said that without the improvement of the security situation in Karabakh, the work on the peace treaty will be difficult.
