Stepanakert Marchers Say "No" to Yerevan's Peace Deal with Azerbaijan

Hundreds marched through the Artsakh capital of Stepanakert demanding that the Armenian government not sign any peace deal with Baku that recognizes Artsakh as a part of Azerbaijan.

The marchers chanted "No to the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh", "No to the signing of the genocidal treaty”.

They also expressed solidarity with those protesting in the village of Kornidzor, in Armenia’s Syunik province, against any such peace deal.

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, following a meeting last Sunday in Brussels with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, said “Azerbaijan recognizes Armenia’s 29,800 square kilometers and Armenia Azerbaijan’s 86,600 square kilometers of territorial integrity.”

The total Soviet-era area of Azerbaijan cited by him includes Nagorno Karabakh.

Tiruhi Gasparyan, one of the marchers, said they are opposed to any territorial concessions undertaken by the Armenian authorities.

"We have gathered today to say no to those who think that Artsakh can be part of Azerbaijan, to those who undermine national unity and separate Artsakh from Mother Armenia. We have come to say yes to our dignity, our willpower, our willingness to own Artsakh-Armenia, to create, to fight on this land, to all our goals,” she said during her remarks.

Arshak Abrahamyan, one of the initiators of the “No to the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh" movement, mentioned in his speech that the Artsakh citizens who joined the march prove with their presence that Artsakh is, was and will remain Armenian.
